December Camper of the Month...Jeter!

Jeter is a wonderful Jack Russel Terrier. He and his brother Jake have been coming to us forever for boarding and grooming. They now come to our Doggy Day Camp. Jeter likes to pal around with the little dogs. He also likes to keep the big dogs in line! He acts like a lab trapped in a little dog body. Fleas are still a problem when it's cold out!

Many owners have been calling us recently with flea problems with their pet even though it's cold outside. This is not unusual. Fleas are really a year-round problem in NJ. There are two things we can do to help:

Schedule a grooming appointment. We can do an antiparasite bath for the pet which would cost $12 in addition to the normal price of the bath or haircut. It would kill any existing fleas that are on your pet and remove the flea dirt.

Purchase Frontline Plus from us and apply it to your pet. Frontline is sold in 3 month packages and ranges in price between $39 and $52 depending on the type and size pet you have. It is a very effective topical treatment that works through the pet's skin system to kill fleas, ticks, and flea eggs.

In this video Merial, the manufacturer of Frontline Plus shows how to apply Frontline correctly and gives important info about what Frontline can do to help you.

Pet Emergency Plan

Check out this article written by the New York Times:

Pets Need an Emergency Plan, Too
By Jennifer 8. Lee
October 15, 2009

"Consider it a government mantra: No Pet Left Behind. Or, if a pet is left behind during a disaster evacuation, it must have food and water, and the home must be marked to indicate to rescue workers that a pet is still inside. Departing owners should also bring a recent color photo of them and their pets, to help identify them later. These are among the lessons that New York City’s Office of Emergency Management officials are stressing to city pet owners in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, which displaced an estimated 200,000 animals...."

October Camper of the Month!

It's Copper! He's an 8 month old German Shorthair Pointer that just cannot get through the Day Camp door fast enough in the morning. He's always full of energy. As a matter of fact, I don't think we've ever seen him lay down! He loves to run around and play keep away with his friends. He wrestles with his lab pal Madison all the time. Copper also has a lot to say and keeps us on our toes! We love him.
